What To Prepare:
Please come to auditions with a prepared 32 bars of music of any Jason Robert Brown song.
Songs from the show are encouraged. Make sure to pick a song that best shows your range!
(Give your audition as much character as possible!)
We ask that you do not audition acapella as there will be an accompanist present, as well as Bluetooth options available to you!
Audition Day:
Registration begins at 5:30 pm on March 12th!
An audition form is required to be filled out upon arrival (resume and headshots are optional but appreciated!)
Auditions will begin at 6:00 pm!
Auditions are private! Vocal auditions will be performed in front of the production team alone!
If called back, secondary auditions will take place the following day, beginning at 7:00 pm!
Synopsis:
The show lies between musical and song cycle, but it is neither; it is an abstract musical, a series of songs all connected by a theme: "the moment of decision." The show has four performers who do not literally play the same characters throughout the show but have consistently developing character arcs. Composer Brown has said "It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to choose, take a stand, or turn around and go back."
Cast Of Characters:
Man # 1 (Age 18-40)
Vocal Range: Tenor, D3 - C5
Commanding and passionate vocal pop powerhouse with incredible upper range.
Man # 2 (Age 30-55)
Vocal Range: Baritone, F2- Ab4
A charming and compelling leading actor with a strong voice
Woman # 1 (Ages 18-35)
Vocal Range: Soprano, G3 - F5
Smart and vulnerable ingenue with stunning pop vocals.
Woman # 2 (Ages 35-65)
Vocal Range: Alto/Belter, F3-F5
Character actor with great comedic timing, dramatic capabilities and strong voice.
